What is the bouquet made from bridal shower ribbons?

Nilavalagi asked:

Okay… So I’m the MOH for my girlfriends wedding. At the Bridal Shower (put on by her sister) they gave me all the ribbons from the gifts and told me to make a bouquet. I have never heard of this tradition. Can someone fill me in on what it is and how I’m supposed to do it? Thank you.

You should of asked them what they were talking about because you have never heard of the tradition before . I think there talking about you making the rehearsal dinner bouquet for the bride out of the ribbon . Theres a link .

Its for her to carry down the aisle at the rehearsal. Get creative, or google it!

It’s basically just the bows attached with staples to a paper plate or other flat surface, then you attach something to hold it with and you can get those things from Walmart or a dollar store.

They use them for bachelorette parties and rehearsals, as the other poster said. Oh, and you will want to make a ‘veil’ using a headband for the bachelorette party, if your local customs are anything like they are here.

The ribbon bouqet is usually made while the bride is opening her gifts. It’s supposed to be used during the rehearsal. Any bows she broke represent the number of children she’ll have (lol).

You basically take the ribbons from the shower gifts and make a bouquet from them and present it to the bride. It is then used at the rehearsal so she can get used to holding a bouquet properly for the wedding day.

Here are two websites who described what it is and give you ideas/tips on how to make one:

Years ago, these ribbon “bouquets’ were saved to be used at the baby shower (used to be placed on the umbrella) as decorations. I doubt that many people save them that long anymore.

Basically, you take all the ribbons and bows, stick them on a paper plate and make a “bouquet” out of it. Then, the “bouquet” is used during the rehearsal so you can practice handing it off to the bridesmaids and handing it back during the ceremony. It’s just a fun little thing to do :)

If you used and still have the paper plates that they used at the shower, you can attach the ribbons to the plate.

Normally, you take a plate and poke a hole in it…. put one of the longer ribbons down to make a handle. And then attached the rest of the ribbons to make a bouquet that the bride can use the day/night of the rehearsal

Its to be used at the rehearsal.

The myth on it is, the number of ribbons she broke while opening the gifts is how many children she will have.
