What kind of business license do i need in order to start my own cleaning business for residential homes?
asked:
I want to start my own cleaning business for the side, but would like to do it legally. There are so many different categories i could fall under, just need help knowing which one. I don’t know if i would be considered an LLC, or limited partnership since its me and another person doing this. I also have a few friends who want to help clean houses on the side. I live in Orlando, Florida if this helps.

Business license is different from setting up the legal structure of your business. You have to check with your local county with regards to the specific requirements of your county/state (rules vary among states)
LLC or limited partnerships are business structures. It can also be sole proprietorship, S Corp, C corp. It is best to consult a lawyer to help you select the best legal structure based on your circumstances.
If this business is a partnership, you need to draw up a clear partnership agreement, including buy-sell provisions that will spell out what will happen when one of your partners want out of the business (or horror, dies)
Since this is a cleaning business, you need to get surety bonds and insurance in order to protect you when something untoward happens in your clients’ houses (e.g. expensive antiques broken, items lost, etc)
